What is a Clone?
Creating a Clone Listing
When are Clones Loaded?
Additional Notes
Suggested Uses for Clones

Clone listings are an innovative way that Auctionitis helps you become more productive. By using the Auctionitis cloning capability you will be able to list more, faster, with less effort.

Clones are also a useful function to use in association with the Automated Scheduler to automate the actual listing  to Sella.

What is a Clone?

A listing with a status of Clone is a variation on a Template with a very special additional behaviour:

Each time one of the complete Load processes run, every auction record with a status of Clone is copied to a pending record in Auctionitis.   This simulates the process of:
  1. Selecting a number of standard templates
  2. Copying those standard templates to new auctions
Instead, each time you run a complete Load process Auctionitis selects and copies the Clone auctions for you. The new auction records are then loaded as new auctions in subsequent task steps.

Some other points about Clone auctions:
  • Clone auctions are included in the auction Load process
  • Clone auctions are not included in the Auction relist process
  • Clone auctions with no Auction Cycle are loaded during the Load All process
  • Clone auctions with an Auction Cycle are loaded during the Load Cycle process
  • Clone auctions have a status of Clone
Creating a Clone Listing
  1. Tick the Clone check box in the Auction Input screen while creating or editing your auction or convert existing listings to Sella Clones.
  2. Once you have ticked the clone checkbox you cannot also tick the template checkbox (and vice versa)
  3. Click the save button and the auction will be saved as a clone auction
  4. If you need to create a clone from an existing auction, use the Copy to Clone function available from the tools menu or the right click menu
When are Clones Loaded?

A new pending auction record is created from any eligible clone record when the following functions are run:
  • Load All
  • Load Cycle
  • Process All
  • Load Schedule
Additional Notes

A Clone auction will not be selected for processing during the Load All operation if it has an Auction Cycle specified. Similarly, only Clone auctions with the correct auction cycle specified will be uploaded during the Load Cycle process.

Suggested Uses for Clones

This function is intended to provide a simple way of loading the same product every night or every hour from just one auction record with a minimum of end-user intervention.

The effect is the same as if Auctionitis was started, the required template was selected and then the copy to new function was run to copy the template to a new auction with a status of pending.
  • Create a Clone Auction for auctions/products that you wish to upload every time
  • Clone auctions are suited to products where you have an endless supply
  • If you wish to temporarily suspend a Clone auction use the hold function
  • Clone auctions work well a standard upload initiated from the schedule
Whenever you wish to ensure that an auction is loaded every time you run one of the auction upload processes, consider using a Clone auction.
