The Search Function
The
Auctionitis search function allows the database to be searched for
particular auction records or pieces of information.
The search feature works in combination with the console filters
to allow you to work with data in ways that suit. Both the search and
the filters can be used to break up your listings into manageable
blocks for bulk updating, assessing or other reasons.
The
feature can easily be turned on or off using the Search On/Search Off
button located on the filters tool bar. This button is a "toggle"
button and will turn the display off and on. Click the Search button
to bring up the search screen.

There are 4 main functions in the search options to be aware of
- The Search On/Off toggle box will turn the search on and off
- The Search Criteria defines which fields will be searched
- Tick to include auction descriptions in the search
- Enter your search criteria and click the find button to bring up the search results
The search criteria defines which fields we can search for data from. Auctions can be searched by:
- Auction Number or partial number:
This can be specified to find auction records starting with that number
(535 will match 53500367, 53510928, 53520791, and so on but not
40535678)
- Seller Reference: or partial seller
reference. This can be specified to find particular auctions starting
with that reference (HO- will match HO-1, HO-100, HO-666 and so on but
not CHO-919)
- Auction Title: A word, part of a word, or a phrase can be entered to locate auction titles containing the search terms
- The Auction Description can also be searched if required
- The
search term must be matched exactly by the text in the Auction Title
or Auction Description ("free postage" will match "we offer free
postage in Auckland" but not "postage is free in Auckland")
- Searches are case insensitive - capitals do not matter
When the search query has been filled in, press the find button and the results will appear in the console.

The
search results can be further defined by using the sort and filter
functions. Click the Search Off button to return Auctionitis to its
normal view.
The search function is cumulative with the
currently selected filters. If only Pending auctions are selected in
the auction status filter, then only pending auctions will be searched.
Clicking
the headings in the Auctionitis console will sort the auction records
in ascending or descending order by the heading selected. Four filters
enable you to group, filter or further refine your search results.
This can be used for bulk updating of data such as shipping details or other processing/reporting options.
