Update Database: What does it do?
The update database function has two components:
- Data entered locally on your PC to create and maintain auction records
- Your latest listing status acquired from the Trade Me or Sella web site with an Update Database
Synchronising listing statuses
It is important to update the database regularly to match the status of listings on Trade Me or Sella, with those in your database. This makes it easier to work with
your auctions and also assist in decide what needs to happen next in terms of relisting or other automated processes.
Note that Auctionitis will update the database base during the
relisting process to ensure the latest auction statuses are used to
make relisting decisions. An update database will: - Update the status of listings in Auctionitis
by matching them with listings found on My Trade Me sold/unsold/current
pages or on Sella
When updating the Trade Me Database, if listings are deleted from these pages, but the listing is still in Auctionitis then it won't be able to update the status and it will therefore be set to a status of closed in Auctionitis.
To use an auction with a status of closed, right click >copy to new the listing and edit the newly created listing as required.
Alternatively these listing can be copied to templates and remain in the database indefinitely for reuse.
An update database won't:
- Import listings
- Edit or update auctions in Auctionitis with any changes made on Trade Me or Sella via a web browser
- Update the sale price, bid information or other details on sold auctions. If you require these functions please check out another Auctionitis product - Tradar
