What's New in Version 4.0
Version 4.0 Release Notes Build 1752, June 3rd, 2010.
Database Platform Change
The
venerable Access database format has been dropped in favour of a more
modern, better performing and lightweight database format. For the
curious, the database is now managed using SQLite. This also removes
the need for ODBC and ODBC drivers making the database more
transportable. Users should notice much improved performance and much smaller database sizes. User Specified Database Location
The
location of Auctionitis database can now be specified at install time
and is independent of the location of the Auctionitis program files.
This will allow users to store the Auctionitis atabase on a file
server, USB key or a specific PC Directory. This functionality will
allow simpler sharing of the database between PC's. There are a few
rules to follow when doing this, so be sure to check the relevent
documentation if implementing this scenario.
Images Stored In Database
Previously,
image data was left stored in image files in the file system. Image
data will now be stored in the database with the associated auction
data. This will eliminate problems with lost or missing images and also
allows the entire Auctionitis database to be moved around or shared
more easily (see above). The image management process has also been refined considerably as part of this.
Windows Registry Dependency Removed
The Windows registry is no longer used for storing Auctionitis settings.
Auctionitis Tray Tool
A
new tool has been developed that manages the loading of auctions,
relisting, offering and other auction management functions. This tool
sits in the Windows System tray and talks to Trade Me in the background
while allowing auctions to be edited and managed from within
Auctionitis. Read more here. Trade Me Account Balance
The
Trade Me account balance is shown in the bottom of the main Auctionitis
console. This requires the Auctionitis Tray tool to be active.
