Once the master account has been set up, the Tradar Server can be started up.  This is activated from the Start > Programs > Tradar > Tradar Server Menu

When running as a Tradar Server, the PC will host the central database and performs additional background processing tasks.  One PC must be configured as the Tradar Server.

Some of the main functions that happen on the Server are:

Host the central database
Downloading of TradeMe sales
Transmission of automatic e-mails
Automatic feedback placement
Scheduled backup of the Tradar database
Additional background processing tasks

The client has a message in the bottom taskbar of the screen advising of the Tradar server status.  If the server is not running then sales data will not be downloaded and the client won't be updated.

When the server starts the Status window will run.  This logs all server activities.

Starting the Server will:

Check the Tradar licence key is valid
Check the TradeMe Master Account is valid
Log into TradeMe
Import the sold data & transfer into the Tradar database - depending on the number of transactions this can take a few minutes

Leaving the Server running will:

Import new TradeMe sales
Update existing sales with new data
Check for sales requiring feedback
Check for automated e-mails to be sent out

How often these tasks are carried out can be specified in the File > Program Options menu.  Automated tasks such as the placing of feedback and e-mails going out can be disabled also.

The server can be left running with the client closed.  When the client is started up all new information will be available.
