Maintaining product information in Tradar is an easy way to link suppliers, products and sales.

What is a product Type?

A Product Type is a grouping of sets of your products based on one or more characteristics the products have in common. Ideally this grouping will be small enough to enable you to manage it easily but large enough to represent a reasonably broad category of your auctions.

If you sell a number of different items or even many items of a similar type it can be useful to break these items up into smaller groups to make them more manageable. Setting up a Product Type for your sales can allow you to do this.

For example if you sell a range of cat and dog food you might might create Product Types of:

•	Tinned Cat Food

•	Packet Cat Food

•	Boxed Cat Food

•	Tinned Dog Food

•	Roll Dog Food

•	Boxed Dog Food

A similar but equally valid approach might see you set up types of:

0-500 grams

501-999 grams

1000-2000 grams

The key idea is to group your items in such a way that you are able to work with each group independently in a way that is meaningful to you. This information can be used for sales analysis, reordering etc.
